Balance is key 🔑 when it comes to health and fitness. It is important to challenge your body with BOTH cardio and strength workouts.

Cardio workouts (like running) are great for blasting calories and keeping the heart strong (plus, who doesn’t love a good sweat). BUT doing strictly cardio doesn’t help you build valuable, metabolism boosting muscle. 💪🏼

Strength training may not burn as many calories during the actual workout, but the process of breaking down, rebuilding, and maintaining stronger muscles keeps us burning more throughout the day. To put it simply, more muscle = more cals burning at rest.
Girls; this is why it seems like guys (who naturally have more muscle mass) can eat as much as they want without consequence! 🍟

My advice: go for balance! Keep your body guessing with a variety of aerobic (steady state cardio), anaerobic (hiit style / sprints), and strength training workouts. Bonus: throw in some leisurely walks during free time to help lower stress levels and keep blood flowing. 🚶‍♀️🚶
